What information is available via MSN Direct to the Weather Stations?

Oregon Scientific’s WeatherNow weather stations receive regional weather information such as the 3-day weather forecast, current temperature and humidity with trends, high/low temperatures, sunrise/sunset times, wind direction and speed, heat index and UV levels via MSN Direct.

What does the Melitta® Smart Mill & Brew™ Coffee Maker do?

The Melitta Smart Mill & Brew with MSN Direct combines a state-of-the-art coffeemaker with weather information from MSN Direct. Now your morning cup of coffee is served with the temperature and a forecast to help you better prepare for your day. In addition, it features an automatic clock that adjusts to Daylight Savings Time and resets after a power failure.

Specific weather information includes: current weather conditions, the day’s forecast, probability for precipitation, weather warnings, visibility, sunrise/sunset times, and UV levels.

How do these appliances work?

These appliances use the MSN Direct service to receive regional weather information; this information is received and displayed within minutes of plugging in the coffeemaker or the weather station. There's no setup, subscription, or Internet connection required. The entire process is simple, automatic and easy as the appliance intuitively detects the weather information through MSN Direct.

How much do they cost?

The estimated retail price of the Melitta Smart Mill & Brew with MSN Direct is $199.95. The estimated retail price of the WeatherNow I is $199.95 and the estimated retail price of the WeatherNow II is $129.95.

Does the Melitta Smart Mill & Brew with MSN Direct or the WeatherNow products from Oregon Scientific require a monthly or annual subscription fee?

No. There is no subscription fee as it works completely out of the box.

Do I have to set up an outside sensor for this to work?

No – these appliances use the MSN Direct service to receive regional weather information without the use of any outdoor sensors.

Is MSN Direct available in my area?

MSN Direct is available in most cities in the United States, with more markets added frequently. However, MSN Direct may be unavailable in some smaller cities. Before you purchase your appliance, find out if service is available in your area by visiting MSN Direct Coverage.

How often is the weather information updated?

MSN Direct sends out latest weather data every two minutes. You may however not see information changing on your appliance that often, because the reported weather data may not be changing at that frequency.

Can the coffee maker get other MSN Direct data besides weather?

Currently, the coffee maker only offers weather data via MSN Direct. Based on customer feedback, we may offer other types of content in the near future.
